In case you didn’t know, e-liquid is the name given to the liquid nicotine used in vapour cigarettes. One of the biggest advantages e-cigarettes have over conventional ones is the flavours used. Standard cigarettes might come in a menthol flavour, but that’s usually about as far as your options go.
When you start using vapour cigarettes, the flavours on offer are almost limitless! If you’re new to vapour cigarettes, or you want to learn more about flavoured vapour e-cigarettes, in general, this blog post is for you!
E-liquids: in a nutshell
All vapour cigarettes use e-liquids. They get heated up and converted into vapour, which is what you inhale when you “smoke” an e-cigarette. E-liquids typically contain three main ingredients: nicotine, propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine.
Propylene glycol or “PG” is the base chemical used in e-liquids. The bigger the quantity of PG, the more intense the “throat hit.” Larger volumes of PG in e-liquids produce less vapour but are longer lasting. When you buy flavoured e-liquids, the taste of those flavours is stronger with higher levels of PG.
Vegetable glycerine or “VG” has a somewhat opposite effect. More vapour is produced, but the throat hit you receive isn’t as intense as PG. E-liquids with a higher concentration of VG offer a sweeter taste and are usually preferred by most people.
The third ingredient used in e-liquids is liquid nicotine. The cartridges available come in various quantities. And it’s even possible to buy nicotine-free e-liquid! Zero-nicotine e-cigarettes are suitable for people that want to give up smoking completely. They’re perfect if you’d rather vape first instead of just going “cold turkey.”
Which combination is best for you?
It’s no secret that there is a plethora of PG, VG and nicotine concentrations available to consumers. The question is, how do you know which one is right for you? At this stage, you’ll have to make that decision for yourself.
As you can imagine, it’s impossible to advise which combination is right for you. That’s because everyone has their personal preferences. One thing you should consider is choosing a combination similar to your smoking habits.
In other words, if you’re a light smoker, you might prefer e-cigarettes with a lower concentration of nicotine and a higher percentage of VG.
What about flavours?
The beauty of e-cigarettes is that you can choose from flavoured vapour cigarettes. Examples of the flavours on offer include:
- Apple;
- Cappuccino;
- Cherry;
- Chocolate;
- Coffee;
- Grape;
- Green Peppermint and
- Menthol.
In fact, the above list is just a small sample of what’s available! The flavours you choose are down to personal taste. As obvious as it sounds, you should make sure you avoid flavours that you dislike.
You can choose flavours with either a PG (propylene glycol) or VG (vegetable glycerine) base. The great thing about e-liquid flavours is that you can choose from a combination of tastes and strengths.
It’s worth bearing in mind that you can’t return flavours you don’t like for health and safety reasons. So, be sure that you choose ones that you know you are going to like.
